           GENERAL INFORMATION

The timetable opposite sets out a typical day for the boys of DAILY
           Shapwick House.
                                                                                  ROUTINE
On Saturdays bedtimes may be extended at the discretion
of the member of staff on duty. On Sundays the boys have a 07:00 Wake-up
lie-in. Brunch is served at 11.30am and supper at 5pm. Boys
have the opportunity to visit Street and campus during the
day. 07:20 Roll call for Year 10/11

EARLY DAYS AT SHAPWICK HOUSE 07:45 Roll call for Sixth Form
There will be a sustained induction programme which will
aim to gradually introduce school systems and house rules,
and to ensure each boy’s effective integration into the
busy life at Millfield. There will be daily house meetings to 07:20 Breakfast at school
provide the opportunity to get to know the staff, the Head
of House, and the other boys, and to talk through any issues
and concerns. Nonetheless, even the most confident and 08:30 Registration with Group Tutor
outgoing student will have bad days, feel homesick, struggle -08:55
with their prep or miss their old friends. Everyone gets The school day begins
homesick at some point; it takes some longer to adjust than
others. If your son does go through a low patch, particularly 15:45 Lessons finish
in the first few weeks, please do not hesitate to call us to
discuss the issues. However, from experience we have found
that the more you are on the phone to your son during 16:00 Sport/free time
this time, the less time they have to socialise and build
friendships with their new peer group. Think about arranging
regular phone calls at agreed times and try to resist the
temptation to take him home each weekend or call him 17:30 Supper
every day. We advise that no exeats should be taken during
the first two weekends of the academic year. We know this is 19:00 Roll call and prep starts
hard, but all the house staff will be on hand to support your
son, and for the vast majority of the students this period of
uneasiness will last no more than a couple of weeks.
                                                                         20:45 Evening activities on campus
We are really looking forward to
welcoming your son to Shapwick 21:30 Device hand in
House, and to getting to know him, - 21:45
and you, much better over the 22:00 Lights out Year 10

coming years. 22:00 Lights out Year 10

It is an absolute pleasure and 22:15 Lights out Year 11
