GREAT HOUSE

                                             WELCOME TO

                                             GREAT HOUSE

Great House is conveniently situated by the main
entrance to the school. It is a senior boys’ day house
of around 70 students from Year 10 through to Upper
Sixth and it is a friendly, welcoming and vibrant
house. The house provides a community space for
the students to study, socialise and relax. Our team
of house managers provide supervision throughout
the day and look after all the students very well. We
have a fantastically talented group of students that
are representative of the broad range of students at
Millfield. Whatever their interests and talents, Millfield
offers incredible opportunities to students and part of
my role is ensuring that the students are fully aware of
what is on offer and are given the opportunity to get
involved in the wider school environment.

I joined Millfield in 1998, and have been responsible
for the running of Great House since September 2010,
also working in the languages department as well as
coaching football and tennis. I have worked in a boys’
boarding house as a non-residential assistant and
as an Assistant Housemaster in a day house before
                                             becoming Housemaster.

My house team support the students as they progress
through Millfield. We all want the boys to challenge
themselves both in their academic work and
extra-curricular activities. We encourage them to
develop their independence so that they are prepared
for the challenges they will face when they leave
Millfield and learn to empathise with others and treat
everybody with respect. The Sixth Form boys have
an important role in mentoring the younger boys to
ensure that they are supported both in house and in
                                             school.
