THE LAKES HOUSE
A DAY IN THE LIFE
AT THE LAKES
8AM
House is opened and before long the kettle is on the boil
and the first teas and coffees of the day hit the spot.
8:20AM
House is getting very busy, kit bags are being left in
changing rooms. There is plenty of laughter, a few
last-minute preps being done, hair being straightened and
plenty of preening at the mirrors before the school day
officially begins!
8:30AM
As if by magic, house is now quiet as the girls have gone
to register with their group tutors. House managers are
clearing up and the gentle slosh of the dishwasher is the
only sound.
3:55PM
9AM After school, the house is incredibly busy coming alive with
Sixth Formers with free lessons arrive back at house to the buzz of chatter after lessons. Girls come and go to get
study, spread out their files and books, and settle down to ready for their after-school activities. There is plenty more
work. There will be more coffee at this point and some toast toast, sometimes biscuits and cakes too, together with lots
too! The house is an oasis of calm after a busy morning. of laughter and time to catch-up on the day’s events.
10:50AM 6:30PM
The silence is broken as the bell goes for breaktime. Hoards House closes for the day.
of hungry girls arrive back to devour the delicious healthy
snacks prepared by house managers. Each day there is a
selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese and hummus,
all beautifully presented by our house managers as you can
see from this photo. Girls eagerly tuck into this and many
will also opt for yet more toast accompanied by some hot
chocolate, tea, coffee or fruit.
11:15AM
It’s silent again, but less than an hour before the lunchtime
rush.
12:15PM
Lunchtime. Time to eat, catch up with friends, attend a
play rehearsal, a music practice, a lecture, meeting, study
seminar, workshop or get changed for a training session.
You might also see girls snuggled up on the sofa in a duvet
grabbing forty winks. We do not have snacks in house at
lunchtime as the dining hall caters for our every need, but
drinks are always available.
1:45PM
It’s lesson time again so the house falls relatively silent once
more, with a few Sixth Formers making the most of their
free lessons to study and get ahead.
