TOP 10 TIPS – FROM A PARENT WHO KNOWS!
BE PATIENT – The new routine takes time. Being in a Country House is very different to being on site. One must be
more organised. However, over time organisational skills improve, and it is actually a great skill to learn. Independence is
            growing.
PLAN AHEAD – Make sure your boys look at the day ahead and bring all the things in to school that they need, including
sports kit. Double check everything in the morning before leaving.
TAXIS – Learn how to book a taxi and book any journeys to/from school, ahead of time.
WAKE UP ON TIME – Get into the habit of getting up on time, otherwise you will be late for the morning bus.
FOOTBALL BOOTS – It's a good idea to get some boots as the boys play a lot of football after school and it gets quite
            muddy.
FOOD – The boys love the Walton food and having their own dining room. Get involved with being on the food committee
(have a say about what you eat) and enjoy the flexibility that being in a Country House has to offer.
GET INVOLVED – There are lots of house activities. Get involved from the beginning so you can feel part of the Walton
            ‘Family’.
COMMUNICATE – Any issues or problems, make sure you communicate with tutors.
RESPECT – Respect the elder years from day one and it leads to greater harmony in the house. Also, respect all the house
rules/systems from day one as increased freedom comes from increased respect and individual responsibility.
ENJOY – Take pleasure in the new routine and the greater responsibility that being in a Country House brings. Enjoy being
off campus and having a different perspective on boarding. Enjoy the fact you can step out of the house and walk to
            McDonalds! HOUSE HANDBOOK 13
