P. 3
From the Principal Mr Peter Ayoub
As we end another term and begin making plans for the final term of the 2022 year,
I am reminded that all things come to an end, which in turn makes way
for new beginnings.
Last week I had the privilege of watching, together with some estimated 4.1 billion others worldwide, the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Whether a monarchist or a republican, one must stand in awe of her 70 year reign of dedication, faith and service. A true leader that we the world can look up to and one who lived what she preached and believed.
During the funeral, I got a text from my neighbour, who asked me what I thought of the funeral. My response to him was:
“It reflects her life and faith. A true Christian funeral. I hear she prepared most of it herself. I have even more respect for her in death. An absolute testimony of her faith to the world. Perhaps the last gospel message with the world as the audience. This could be a Bible prophecy happening right before our eyes. I pray that the world takes notice!”
Queen Elizabeth II gave several testimonies throughout her long life, of her faith in God and the model of servanthood from Jesus Christ that was her inspiration. In her funeral, we were able to all hear that the Queen knew and believed that no matter what our position, whether commoner or royal, we will all stand as one before God, our maker, and we will all be held accountable for our lives here on Earth. It was evident that Queen Elizabeth II knew who Jesus Christ was, she knew her place as a sinner before God, and despite her royal position, knew that before God, she was
no different than any one of us and needed the same forgiveness and love from her creator that each of us needs, in life and in death!
I was very inspired by some of the verses at Queen Elizabeth II funeral:
John 11:25-26
Jesus said unto her, “I am the resurrection, and the life he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.”
Job 19:25-27
I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another.
Job 1:21
The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Whilst we now begin a new season under the reign of King Charles III, and maybe something else down the track, may we never forget the great example that Queen Elizabeth II gave us in her lifetime of dedication, faith and service. May we all strive to live a life of service and gratitude to God, our creator and each other. May we all know and understand the saving grace, through Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, that He makes freely available to us all.
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
As I look back over Term 3, I can see it was one very packed term with many camps, excursions and events. Our students are certainly making
up for the years that Covid took away from us.
I congratulate them all on their hard work this term and pray that you are all able to have a restful break and come back next term refreshed and ready to begin the final term of 2022.
