At Harvest Christian College, we believe that education
is not just about academic
achievement, but also about cultivating a sense of happiness and joy in our students. We encourage them to embrace their creativity and to find joy
in their learning journey. A positive and joyful environment is essential for students to thrive and reach their full potential.
This past week, the college celebrated the Cornish Festival. The festival is a time of joy, happiness,
and camaraderie, where people come together to celebrate and appreciate their shared traditions.
As part of the festivities, Harvest Christian College students participated in various activities such as Maypole dancing, singing, playing old fashioned games in the park and enjoying Cornish food. The atmosphere was filled with joy and laughter as everyone came together to celebrate the unique culture and traditions of the Cornish people. This celebration allowed students to appreciate the past and the impact it has on their present lives.
I have asked our Foundation to Year 3 students
to draw or write about what they see as joy and happiness. The results were a beautiful reminder
of the innocence and joy that children bring to the world. The pictures and words depicted moments of laughter, friendship, family, and love. The students’ creativity and imagination were evident in their artwork, and it was a joy to see the world through their eyes.

In the midst of all of these celebrations, it is important that we remember what our heavenly father says about joy and happiness.
In Matthew 5:12 it says: “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven”. Jesus is telling
us that true happiness and joy come from living a life that is centred on Him. It is not about material possessions or earthly pleasures, but about living a life that is pleasing to God. Jesus also teaches us about the importance of joy and happiness of children. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” This passage emphasises the importance of childlike joy and innocence. Jesus wants us to approach life with a childlike sense of wonder and joy. As adults, we often forget to find joy in the simple things in life, but children remind us of the beauty and happiness that can be found in the world around us.
As we continue on our journey here at Harvest Christian College, let us embrace the joy and happiness that surrounds us. Let us celebrate the past, embrace the present, and look forward to the future with hope and optimism. May we always remember the words of Jesus and the simple joys that children teach us.
