Remembering Andrew “Andy” John Hanson (June 16, 1965 - September 1, 2021)
(Frank Huntington III – CALI President / F.W. Huntington & Associates, Investigations – CA)
Longtime CALI member and board member Andy Hanson, CPI passed away after a long illness. Andy had retired from the
Kern County Sheriff’s Office, and was a PI in the Bakersfield area for many years before he retired to Washington. Andy
leaves behind his wife Sarina and the absolute pride of his life, his son Jimmy. You will be missed, Andy.

Dean met Andy at a CALI conference, and knew him long before and after. He called Dean a month before to chat, catch
up, and give a referral – that’s how Andy was. Andy mentioned it may be the last time they talk – it was getting very
difficult, and he was making sure Jimmy was taken care of. It was. They continued to text and email, until those also
became difficult. He was a good friend to many. His son Jimmy was his life, and every ounce of his pride. Jimmy – take
the top down from the Vette and remember the memories you and your dad made together in it.

Pursuit Magazine - Investigating Denied Insurance Benefits for Death or Catastrophic Injury for Claimants
(by Dean A. Beers, CLI, CFDI-Expert, CCDI and Karen S. Beers, BSW, CFDI-SME, CCDI and published in Pursuit Magazine)
The loss of a loved one, the grief and trauma, is only for the bereaved to understand. We are passionate about helping
grieving families in the way we know how — most often, by looking into their loved one’s death and providing answers.
Other times, there’s some additional inflicted pain: the denial of insurance benefits, most often life insurance or medical
coverage, but also, in some cases, related to accident, double indemnity, dismemberment, or other catastrophic injury.
This area of expertise is called interpleader insurance investigations, and it requires specialized experience in
investigating cause and manner of death and serious bodily injury.
