FAQ for Employers



                          Job Postings


            1.  Is there an avenue we can do our own promotion for this position at HKUST?
               The job details you submitted will be posted in our Job Board. It is accessible by all current HKUST
               students. Other than this avenue, you are more than welcome to disseminate your own opening(s)
               via other channels.


            2.  How many STEM Internship quotas will be allocated per company?
               A basket of factors will be considered when assigning quota to determine the number of interns deemed
               reasonable to be supported by this Scheme for the Employer, such as the amount of ITC funding

               available, company size and operations, etc. Subsidy will be  earmarked only when duly signed contract
               has been received. HKUST Career Center holds sole discretion in this decision.

            3.  The  guidelines  mentioned  the  employment  period  has  to  be  “no  less  than  4  consecutive

               weeks”. How this will be counted?
               Four weeks  employment period  is  counted  by  calendar days, i.e., 28 days including Saturdays  and
               Sundays.

            4.  How long can the subsidized internship last?
               In  order  to  receive  the  ITC  subsidy,  the  internship  period  must  last  from  4  weeks  to  3  months.
               Any internship duration shorter than 4 weeks will not be subsidized.








                    (II)   Students’ Eligibility

            1.  Any restrictions on the final-year graduate? Do they have to enter the Scheme before 31 July for
               summer internships?

               Final year students from eligible majors can benefit from the scheme. All summer internships under
               the Scheme  should be within late May to the last day of the summer break. For winter internships, the
               period should fall within late December to the last day of the winter break.


            2.  Can students on mandatory internship be eligible for the Scheme?
               Co-op  program  or  curriculum-required  internship  is  regarded  as  mandatory  requirement  for
               intern's study program. It is not eligible for this  particular Scheme. Nonetheless, any internship period
               in excess of the mandatory requirement is eligible for the Scheme.
