its epilepsy monitoring unit expansion
to meet what has become a large
need in Western Kentucky. The unit
began three years ago to monitor
children and adults with epilepsy. The
completed renovations will more than
double the capacity to care for epileptic
patients. The program is led by the
region’s only certified epileptologist Dr.
Jim Ed Couch.
Mercy Health continues to expand
access to healthcare within its regional
service area. To improve access to
heart care in Murray and surrounding
communities, Mercy Health opened
Mercy Health – Murray Cardiology in
November. Nurse practitioner Ashley
Wilson, APRN, provides cardiology
services within Primary Care Medical
Center in Murray. Additionally, Mercy
Health will open a walk-in clinic inside
the new J & R Pharmacy facility in
Benton.
Thanks to the generous support of
donors, Mercy Health Foundation
Lourdes continues to help Mercy
Health stay rooted to its mission. The
Foundation assisted in bringing cold
cap technology to Paducah. Mercy
Health was first in the region to offer
cancer patients cold cap therapy, a
scalp-cooling technique that lessens
hair loss during chemotherapy.
Because of donor support of the
Foundation, cold cap therapy at
Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital
has been available at no cost to the Health Care for
patient. The Foundation and its the Universe of you
donors have also been instrumental
in the expansion of the epilepsy At Mercy Health, you’ll find the compassionate care you need to
