THE LONG-LOST FAWN
O
ne day in the deep forest, I
was with my mother, Eretha, and
me Fawny. We were going for a
walk. I always wanted to become a
service deer helping animals from
wildfires. You must be a fast fawn
for that, and I am amazingly fast. I
spotted something in the distance.
It was a squirrel! I rushed toward it
while it was running away. I chased
it while my mom kept calling me.
“Fawny!” she yelled. I ignored her
and kept chasing the squirrel. I soon
lost sight of it. I turned around and
did not recognize where I was. I was
calling for my mom. “Mom!!” I
yelled. But I was lost. I started
walking hopefully to find my mom.
It started getting dark. Wolves
would be out at night. “Oh no.” I
said to myself. I heard growling
behind me. I looked and saw a wolf
growling. “Looks like I have dinner,”
the wolf said. I ran away as fast as I
could. “Mom!!” I yelled. The wolf was
right behind me catching up to me. I
tripped and fell into the ocean.
Good thing I knew how to swim and
stayed afloat. The water started to
fall, and I fell with it. The ocean
started to go crazy, and I could not
stay afloat. A Tsunami came and
forced me under water, and I
blacked out.
When I woke up, I was on land.
“YEAH, I SURVIVED!!” I yelled. But I
still could not find mom. I shook off
all the dirt. “What is this stuff?” I
spoke. I looked like dirt with tiny
rocks. I started walking and saw a
bunch of cars parked. A bunch of
people coming out of their cars
walking towards the water and dirt.
“Oh no.” I ran somewhere far where
no one can see me.
“Sweetie get off your phone you’ve
been on it all day.” A woman said to
a girl. “Fine.” The girl said and
walked away from the woman to
the dirt. The woman sighed and

walked after the girl. There was also
another girl running in my direction!
Since she kicked her ball too far, she
went after it and saw me. “Hi, deer,”
the little girl said. She was not at all
scared. “Strange. I expect her to be
scared, not friendly.” I say in my
head. She comes closer towards
me. “Oh no! She is going to hurt
me!” I say in my mind. I closed my
eyes as she came even closer. She
is.... petting me? I open my eyes and
see her petting me. She sits next me
and says, “You seem lost.” She
spoke. “How does she know I am
lost?” I ask in my mind. “I am
Ashley,” she says to me. “I’ll name
you Dotty since you have white dots
on your back,” Ashley says. “Hmm
that does makes sense. I do have
white dots on my back,” I say in my
mind. “Maybe you can live with me
until we find your home.” Ashley
says.
“Ashley!!” Her mom yelled. “I am
here with Dotty,” Ashley says. Her
