Iain Luyell ―Max‖ McLeggan was born on the 1st June
1965 to Clarissa & Luyell McLeggan in North London.
He was one of seven children born both here and in
Jamaica.
From a young age he displayed a driving energy and
a great sense of humour, being a middle child he
learned quickly how to grasp most things:-
Calligraphy, Drawing, Pottery, Woodwork &
Metalwork.
He was and could also be quite mischievous and
Iain’s parents always knew their 4 year old was going
to be a handful when he wrote his name on every
palm leaf on a house plant of their church brethrens
especially as it wasn’t visible until the following day
when the plant released its gases …now that’s
foresight!
Iain was always a trend setter and NEVER a follower,
be it fashion, music style or principles. Upon leaving
school he soon realized he had a talent working with
metals and subsequently became a jeweller in the
prestigious area of London’s diamond trade Hatton
Gardens. He went from strength to strength and
soon set up his own a workshop in Regent Street. He
designed custom pieces not only for city clients but
also family and close friends. His pieces are timeless
and his work lives on in special pieces made for his
loved ones.
