On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Muscatine Symphony
Orchestra Association (MSOA), I welcome you to our new and
                              exciting season.

So, lean back, relax, and let us take you away from all other distractions. Let the force of
music speak to you. Yo-Yo Ma, the famous cellist during a recent PBS News Hour on
April 15, 2019, talks about the importance of telling each other our stories through music:
“it can heal, it can inspire, it can create wonder,” but more than that it
creates culture. Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines culture as the characteristic
features of everyday existence (such as diversions or a way of life) shared by people in a
place or time. Music is this shared daily experience that enhances our lives and make us
feel joy, sadness, or other such emotions that make up our culture.

I agree with Yo-Yo Ma when he states his belief that “…culture is the ground on which
everything else is built. It is where the global and local, rural and urban, present and future
confront one another….and is essential to our survival. It is how we invent, how we bring
the new and old together, how we imagine a better future.”
We’re so very glad to be a part of the greater Muscatine community. Know that
without our audience and supporters, we could not exist. The MSO succeeds because of
your generous continued financial support and recommendations to your family and many
       friends. Help us as #savethemusicinmusca.

Cheers! It’s going to be a GREAT season!
