EXERCISE 7.3
Q1.If D is any point on the base BC produced, of an isosceles triangle ABC,prove that AD AB .
soln:
ABC is an isosceles triangle
i.e AB=AC
to prove: AD>AB
proof:-
here , C> D
i.e AD>AC the side opp to larger angle is longer
AD> AB AB=AC h/p
Q2.Of all the line segments that can be drawn to the given line, from a point, not lying on it,prove that
the perpendicular line segment is the shortest.
soln:
B = 90
, C and D are acute angles
then ,
B > C
i.e AC>AB eqn 1
again, B= D
i.e AD> AB eqn 2
from eqn 1 and eqn 2 , we get
AC and AD > AB
AB which is perpendicular to l is the shortest line segment.
Q3. Prove that the perimeter of a triangle is greater than the sum of its three medians.
soln:
we know, angle made by a median may be right angle
on both sides or acute and obtuse angle on the corresponding
side .
to prove:-AB+BC+CA>AQ+BR+CP
