Kindness is the most valuable gift you will ever give someone.
Regular follow-up in the first year after surgery is essential to prevent and address possible complications.
Six to eight weeks after ostomy surgery, all ostomy patients should see a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC / Ostomy Nurse Specialist).
It is also wise to see your NSWOC
three months and then six months after surgery to monitor your ostomy and skin health.
If the hospital where you had your surgery does not offer out-patient follow-up, ask your pharmacy or clinic where you buy your supplies if they offer Ostomy Nurse consultations.
OASC’s nurse is: Jennifer Brewer
RN BScN CETN(C)
- Enterostomal Therapy Nurse or NSWOC
You will need a referral to Dr. Lisi, General Surgeon in Collingwood
