had run out of the hall. Two teachers had arrived by this time, they had been trying to find the switchboard when the fighting had begun.
A hand touched Saffron’s shoulder, making her jump with fright - but it was only Mitchell.
‘Nice tackle back there, Mitch!’ she said.
‘Your kicking-style’s pretty flash too!’ he replied. ‘It's a pity that rotten, thieving weasel got away.'
‘I’ll know him if I see him again,’ growled Mitchell.
Saffron could have told him more about the boy called Bomber, but she decided to say nothing. Somehow it was all bound up with the Green Mountain campaign. She remembered the phonecall now, she had to let Mobo know what was happening and she needed time to think. A police car had pulled into the carpark and uniformed officers were
walking their way.
While she waited, Saffron checked that the laptop was still
working properly. Relief flooded through her as it started up smoothly. It would have been terrible if they had destroyed her father’s laptop and with it the recipe-book he had almost completed. Not that any of the family believed the book would ever be published, but it would be upsetting for him to waste so much work.
‘I didn’t know you were at the dance, you’re not ...?’ ‘No, I’m not that old!’ Mitch chuckled. ‘I’m on the S.R.C.
