‘This is my house, Mobo.’ She pointed out a rambling, well- used, weather-board house, with ricketty front steps and
climbing roses twisted around the posts of the front verandah. ‘What is that strange noise coming from your nesting box,
Ronnie?’
‘Oh, it's my brother and his friends making what they call
music.’ Chuckie Chunder and the Cheeseburgers were hard at work in the garage practising for their upcoming gig at the senior- school social. ‘He does it most weekends, he’s a fanatic, he wants to be a rock star! Let’s go into the house and I’ll show you around. Tom, my father, is probably out riding some old motorbike, like his B.S.A. or the Velocette. He shares the garage with the band - but he always leaves when the noise starts.’
She removed her wet coat and hat and hung them on hooks by the front door. The door to Angie’s office was closed.
