‘Ronnie, Ronnie, one question at a time. Do you believe that radio waves are secret? Never, my friend, tell your secrets on a mobile phone ...’
‘My only secret is you, and I won’t tell anyone!’
Mobo went on with his explanation. ‘Do you not know about espionage - police can listen to all phonecalls - any one with the right equipment to focus on a frequency can pick them up.’
‘Yes, I remember now!’ chuckled Saffron excitedly. ‘My parents were laughing about something a Prince in England said on his mobile phone. It must have been really rude, ‘cause they wouldn’t tell me what he said, and they tell me most things. They said someone listened in and taped it. Then they flogged it to the newspapers for heaps of money. But did you get the Mayor’s number from directory assistance?’
‘No,’ replied Mobo. ‘He has a private number, unlisted, but that does not stop Mobo. I had a sample of his voice from when he spoke on the radio. I analysed it and monitored all local calls until it was matched.’
‘Mobo, you’re just amazing. You keep going with that stuff and I’ll keep going with the petition and stuff. It’s starting to get really late again - I feel so tired and I’ve still got to get home. Keep up the good work. See if you can find out what those creeps were talking about. Night-night, Mobo. Say hello to Telara from me, I think she’s very pretty.’
