Zone Magazine just got the scoop on two very bright and talented up and coming DJ / Producers, from Dublin, who have a big dream, to make their mark on the world of dance music, and at the ages of 15 and 16 they are already well on their way, watch this space for the next big thing!
Tell us a bit about yourselves:
Josh: My name is Josh Coakley & I am a 16 year old DJ & Producer from Dublin, I got into DJing through my dad Warren Coakley, he used to DJ in some top clubs in Ireland and abroad some years ago and growing up I always wanted to be like my dad and I follow in his footsteps. I was always around music as my Dad would always have music on morning, noon and night. He use to tell me great stories from back in the day, and it was then I said I want to do that too. I love listening and playing House Music, anything from deep to vocal, to classic and tech.
After being introduced to Lorcan through some friends of mine we hit it off and decided to create a remix together "Robin S - Show Me Love (Josh Coakley & Lorcan McCarthy Remix)" We decided to use the Robin S classic house anthem lyrics so it will appeal to not just a young audience but to an older one too who heard the song when it was first released in the early nineties. We only intended to
make the remix for fun but we never thought the track would get such great feedback from DJ / Artists such as Lushington, Midnight City, Ben Dooks, Colin Francis from Ministry of Sound, K- Klass & Graeme Park just to mention a few. Our track became more and more popular each day and before we knew it, it was being played in huge clubs such as the famous Ocean Beach Club in Ibiza, and Clubs up and down the UK. It was even played at Electric Picnic this year to over 45,000 people. We were also told it has been played on radio and in clubs as far as Australia and the US. It features on some YouTube channels and in just a few weeks has received thousands of plays on my SoundCloud page.
My best moment as a DJ so far has to have been playing to a fully sold out crowd in the HUB venue with House Project. As a DJ I have never experienced such a great atmosphere as I did that night. To play the Remix Show Me Love and hear the crowd singing it back was surreal. I was blown away to be asked to support Ben Dooks & Ryan Blyth in their shows in Dublin at Buzz Venue and The Hub in October. I have had my mixes played on various radio stations in Ireland and around the world featuring in podcasts and dance music shows.
Lorcan: My name is Lorcan McCarthy and I'm a 15 year old DJ / Producer. I first started off DJing through a friend of mine who introduced me to it. It started off as a small hobby but grew into something bigger. After gaining a real passion for
house music I decided to give producing it a go by using inspiration that I had gained from some of my favourite DJs such as Don Diablo and Tchami. I started off with really basic rifts and beats but over time I got better and better. Then I was introduced to Josh through one of my friends who told me he was a good DJ and we started talking about meeting up and making a track together. After hours and hours of making melodies, beats and vocal edits, we finally released our track. To our surprise it got huge support from big DJs such as Ben Dooks and was also played on Cooper's club collection on IRadio and was played in Ibiza as well.
As a DJ / Producer my best moment has to be playing at Spring Break music festival as the atmosphere was amazing and being up on stage and having a huge crowd dancing to my music was phenomenal. We are working on some sick new tunes which I hope people will love and will be released real soon. I hope a record label too will pick up on our talent. That's something I really dream of and I'm looking forward to what the future holds.
