by Tony de vit and Danny Rampling, fast forward 6 years later as soon as I looked old enough to try my hand at clubbing I was there 15 cuing up to try and get into Cream in Liverpool on a fake ID I'd had made by a friend which looked as dodgy as it was which in the end I didn't even need, first clubbing experience a packed out cream with the likes of Tiesto, Paul Van Dyke and Paul Oakenfold headlining.
Tell us a little about why you started Stricktly Underground, and how you guys met?
Strictly underground was started by Gavin hogan, Mathew Jones and Myself as a way of playing the music we loved to friends and trying to educate the masses on the complexities and quality of underground house and techno having experienced a local scene dominated by commercial events and cheesy meet and greet events, having lost a quality underground venue in time was time to look at alternative ways of getting our sound across to to the masses.
Where are you all from, and give us
some background on what you where all doing before this venture?
All being local lads we have had the privilege of knowing each other for many years spending many a hours in house party's together as youngsters talking rubbish and playing records in multiple back to back sessions, prior to strictly underground we all had some local success DJ'ing at some local party's and club nights but which weren't heading in the direction we wanted, and after a few discussions we thought if fitting to start our own night and brand.
What do you think of the scene in North Wales now?
I think the local north wales scene is buzzing at the moment with some quality festivals and party's popping up around the area and having our selfs giving local up and coming talent the platform to play with more established names and brands the scene is slowly getting to where it needs to be with some big plans in the pipeline.
What would you guys like to see more of and less of?
I would like to see more youngsters coming through understanding music and djing as a form of bin creative and an alternative to the streets, I would like to see less of the big venues locally throwing stupid amounts of money at z list celebraties just to get numbers in with no attention to quality of events.
What’s the future for your brand?
After having a cracking year to date I’ve been included as a brand in some of the biggest and best festivals up and down the country and supporting some massive names at events up and down the country, next up is just to keep growing at the rate we have been of late and who knows sky's the limits.
