‘Ok’, I conceded, ‘come over on Saturday if Penny can spare you with Paul and Seki leaving soon’.
‘Great, I’ll see you on Saturday’, we kissed again and parted.
My next class wasn’t until Friday, which left me time to work on my paintings for the gallery. Looking through some of my photographs I found two landscapes and a seascape none of them with too much detail so that’d make life a little easier.
Within a couple of day’s non-stop painting I had my piece ready for the gallery. Then a surprise phone call from Penny asking if I could do a few hours work one day this week in the bar, I really wanted to refuse but knew I couldn’t, she needed me, and I promised I’d be there. I told her I would let her know what day I could do. She thanked me, and we said our goodbyes.
After class on Friday I dropped in the bar to tell Penny I could work Sunday. As I stepped inside shaking from the chilly night I caught Jenny reaching up and stroking Rex’s cheek he had a smile on his face, which quickly faded when he spotted me. I half smiled half grimaced at him and went straight into the back-calling Penny. I didn’t want to look jealous or cause a scene.
‘Hi Amber! Come have a coffee with me I’m just catching up on some paper work’, we sipped coffee while we laughed and talked it was great to see her back to her old self.
I slipped out the back, calling to Penny, ‘see you on Sunday’, not wanting to have any conversation with Rex. I drove home annoyed with myself for been so childish. My phone rang then, and I saw it was Rex. I didn’t want to talk to him now I let the phone
