shining and my skin bright and soft, I was blooming. The morning sickness had disappeared, and I felt great.
I jumped as the doorbell chimed waking me out of my thoughts. Rex scooped me into his arms and we kissed passionately. He was in great form. The strain of the last few weeks was slowly leaving him, and he was full of plans for his inheritance. I was feeling so relaxed I decided to tell him about the baby straight away. As he popped the cork on a bottle of our favourite Chilean wine, I asked him to sit and put my hand over my glass to stop him from pouring. I sat down beside him.
‘Rex darling, I have some news to tell you’, I started to tremble nervously
‘Are you alright?’ he asked.
With tears in my eyes I said, ‘I love you very much, we have been through a lot together lately and I don’t want to frighten you’.
‘Amber what is the matter? Are you ill? I know you have been feeling bad lately, but we’ve put all that in the past, haven’t we’? he looked and sounded upset.
‘No, no, I’m alright’, I took a deep breath, ‘I have been to the doctor and he has confirmed I’m pregnant’!
I waited for him to responded for what felt like an eternity.
‘That’s wonderful’! he jumped up unable to keep himself still, ‘I’m going to be a dad’, he shouted to the room. Suddenly stopping and sitting back down he looked at me, ‘do you want to keep it? Amber love, please say Yes’.
‘Of course, I do’, we danced around the room laughing and kissing each other at every pause.
‘Oh, Rex I was so afraid you’d be shocked and not be ready to be a dad’.
‘Let’s get married as soon as possible’, he said after calming down.
I laughed holding him close, ‘let’s just take this one thing at a time’.
