The barn was now completed, and the furniture had been moved in. Rex had planned on moving the rest of our stuff in when I was in hospital with the baby.
I was a little reluctant moving out of my beautiful cottage it held such happy times for us.
I did not have to wait long before the inevitable happened.
I woke around midnight to a dull pain in my lower back. Unable to get back to sleep or find any comfort I decided to go downstairs and make a cup of tea but as I got to the top of the stairs the pain got worse gripping my entire body. Shuffling back to the bedroom I nudged Rex out of his deep sleep, ‘We need to go to the hospital, now’! I groaned as another contraction hit, ‘quickly’.
He was out of the bed, dressed and helping me negotiate the stairs within minutes. We arrived in the hospital with about 30 minutes to spare before our beautiful daughter came screaming into the world.
We were both so happy and overwhelmed, we cried a river of joyful tears.
After a couple of hours of cuddles and trying to get the hang of nursing, Rex accompanied the nurse and our beautiful new baby girl, Lilli, to the nursery so I could have the rest of the night to sleep. I drifted off into a deep, well needed slumber.
Penny took to grannyhood like a duck to water. In between taking Lilli for strolls at every given opportunity and minding Shalma overnight for Paul when he goes into town once a week with friends, she was always arriving with gifts for them.
Still feeling a little tired I take every opportunity to relax and do a bit of painting. In a week’s time Sherry would be here. She was thinking of traveling around the south of England using here as a base, then on to France to visit friends. I’m looking forward to seeing her and catching up on all the gossip.
