" The only way to become successful nowadays is through producing and releases. I wouldn't say it's essential but when
you are really interested in DJ’ing you will surely get to a point where you want to play the tracks you made yourself. "
How did you get into music? I've heard rumors of a story revolving around a pizza restaurant?
I've always loved to hear and collect music and when I was about 15 years old I planned a school party. I loved to do these parties and it went on this way until one day when I was around 18. My sister worked in a club in Giessen and they were looking for a DJ for Thursday nights. My sister recommended to the club owner that I be their new Thursday night act.
Who influenced you in your musical journey?
When it comes to DJ’ing, there is not really anyone who directly influence me because I always knew that’s what I wanted to do. I always did what I wanted and left no room
for any external influences.
In your opinion, how important is producing for DJ’s nowadays?
The only way to become successful nowadays is through producing and releases. I wouldn't say it's essential but when you are really interested in DJ’ing you will surely get to a point where you want to play the tracks you made yourself. Until then you only play music made by others and try to make your own thing out of it. The next logical step is to create the music yourself and play it as a DJ. Around 1995 I'd produced my first tracks and released them.
If you could give any new DJ/ Producer advice to live by what you tell them?
Do whatever you want to do. Be original and don’t try to copy anything or anybody. It's better to make something low quality on your own and build yourself upon that than to try and copy somebody else. This can take years but it also might happen very fast.
It was a real pleasure talking to him and we had a wonderful time in Düsseldorf.
So of course, next year I'll be back.
