Halloween @ Something Wicked
Although the year is coming to an end, it’s never too early to start planning for Halloween. It’s been a tradition around the world for hundreds of years, and every year most feel the need to one-up the year before. On a night where major events are hosted everywhere your options seem to be endless. There are a few events however, that are far better than the rest. If you are looking to take your next Halloween to another level, you need to strongly consider Something Wicked in Houston Texas. After having some setbacks in the past, the festival made a strong case in 2016 for being one of the best Halloween parties in the world for any music lover. I know what I’ll be doing next year, and here are the top 10 reasons why I’ll be in Houston.
10. Staff and Facilities
Festivals are crazy, and things can always go wrong. With thousands of people all gathering in one place, things are always expected to happen. Something Wicked has done a great job in planning, and they partner with some good vendors to make sure every aspect is covered. We unfortunately live in a world where newsfeeds are constantly filled with some pretty bad stories and festival experiences. It’s always important to know you have the necessities covered for yourself and the group you attend with. If things do go wrong, it’s great to know you are somewhere where you can get the help you need.
9. Location
Being in Houston, and the convenience of the location makes a big difference. The city offers a major airport and a variety of hotels to stay at nearby one of which is less than half a mile away from the venue. When traveling from out of town, this can often be the biggest issue when planning. Fortunately, those aspects are made as easy as possible.
8. The Transportation
It’s the one thing we all hate, the traffic and the logistics of getting to and from a festival. Something Wicked did it
rightwhentheypartneredwithUber. They credit the first $20 of your trip and make it easy to get a ride. When you’re attending from out of town it makes a great difference.
7. The Art
Another thing I love about any festival is the art. If you do attend, make sure you spend some time checking out the original works from some of the region's best artists.
6. Stages
Music Festivals are known for the bright lights, visuals and larger than life stages that are worthy of being considered a performance of their own. I’ll be in Houston because I want some of the best lights and pyrotechnics mixed with everything Halloween brings.
5. The Artist Lineup
The biggest DJ’s and producers from all over the world fill the lineup. Artists like Diplo, Hardwell, Excision, 3LAU, A-Trak and so many others performed this year and next year will be no different. If it’s the talent you are looking for, Something Wicked has it.
4. The Costumes
For most people this is the best thing about Halloween. Although this isn’t number one on my list, I still completely agree with that. While costume parties are fun, the people attending Something Wicked obviously take the concept of a costume party to the next level. It’s guaranteed to be one of the biggest you will ever go to. With the size of the event comes the more creative and memorable costumes that we all love. If you plan on attending, make sure to bring your best costume when you do.
3.The Spook
It’sthetimeofyearwherehaunted houses thrive and the best new horror movies come out. No matter who you are, we all crave a little scare. Music festivals are known for the larger than life atmosphere and fantasies they create, so why would you go to a haunted house when you have an entire festival designed around just that. I want to spend my Halloween fully immersed in a haunted world. No matter how much spook you are looking for, you will find it.
2. The People
My favorite things about festivals are the people you meet and the friends you make. Although Something Wicked is themed around a holiday of horror, that doesn’t mean you can’t spend it getting haunted with some new friends. People from all over the world travel to Houston to do just that.
1. The Music
Isn’t this a given? It’s the one thing that brings us together. When many people may love to drink their nights away at costume parties they may not remember, I see Halloween as an opportunity to hear some great music. If there is one reason above all for you to travel to Something Wicked, do it for good music.
