CAC RESPONSE TO MALTREATMENT
CACs in Ohio frequently (though not exclusively) provide services to those children whose reports have been screened in and completed, then as- signed to family investigation track. CACs provide services to children and families throughout the state.
In 2019, Ohio CACs provided services to at least 9,045 children.3 This number accounts for approximately 91% of all screened and identified as needing services by PCSAO*. Based on total population under 18 in coun- ties served by CACs, our network currently covers 72 percent of children in Ohio**.
Nationally, the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) model employed by CACs is considered best practice in providing services to children and families re- garding abuse and maltreatment. In Ohio, there are important opportunities for growth of this model to serve a larger proportion of those in need of services.
Additional findings of interest include potential expansion of services to LEP and linguistically isolated households, increasing access for those with disabilities, and numerous populations in resource-poor areas of the state.
