LANGUAGE AND SERVICE ACCESS
More than 110 languages are spoken in Ohio, however, language prevalence varies widely throughout the state and some languages are more prominent than others depend- ing on the county, so reviewing local language data is essential. The American Community Survey (ACS) provides an esti- mate of English language pro- ficiency. The ACS estimates that 1.35% percent of the total state population (146,881 people) over the age of five speaks another language be- sides English at home and speak English less than “very well”. Some communities throughout the state indicate increased LEP housholds. This may warrant consideration of potential resources.
