HOUSING COST BURDEN
Housing costs are often the largest expenses for a family and this indicator reports the percentage of the households where housing costs exceed 30 percent of total income. This indicator provides information on the cost of monthly housing expenses for owners and rent- ers. The information offers a measure of housing affordabil- ity and excessive shelter costs. The data also serves to aid in the development of housing programs to meet the needs of people at different economic levels.
