UNEMPLOYMENT RATE
This indicator reports the percentage of the civilian popu- lation age 16 and older that
is unemployed (non-season- ally adjusted). Unemployment creates financial instability and barriers to access including insurance coverage, health services, healthy food, transportation, and other necessities. By tracking these trends long term we can hope- fully anticipate periods of elevated need and assist in providing access to services that address these needs.
A considerable decrease in unemployment rates from June 2019 to November 2020. This trend is consistent natiowide. This runs in opposition to other studies regarding employment impacts from the pandemic. One posibility is that this measure is subject to inaccuracy due to volatility generated by inconsistent policy guidance regarding pub- lic safety and the economy. This trend will be tracked in the coming months ahead to evalu- ate this measure further.
