Mental Health Services for Children
This map shows the distribution of mental health service provid- ers for youth. When compared to Figure 25, what is notable - as with medical service access - the presence of a facility
does not always translate into high accessibility. This may
be attributable to individual characteristics and capabilities of these providers but deeper study is needed. It should also be noted that counties adjacent to service rich areas may com- mute across county lines for services, causing disparities to be more prominent than would otherwise be indicated. Like- wise, this indicates that large commutes may be burdening families seeking youth mental health services.
