HEALTH BEHAVIORS AND CONDITIONS
This section looks at health behaviors such as substance use exposure and access to nutrition. There are numerous health factors to consider. We have chosen just a small selection of some of the most common, emerging, and frequently overlooked factors for 2018. In the future, we will aim to integrate more of these factors as resources become available.
As stated previously, research shows correlations between the following factors and rates of child abuse and maltreatment within a community. It is critical to note that high prevalence of these factors alone or in combination do not cause child abuse and maltreatment. These factors can also inform the review and development of CAC services with an eye toward ensuring that they are maximally supportive and responsive to local expectations and needs.
