About the Ohio Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers (ONCAC)
ONCAC ONCAC serves as the State Chapter for a a a a a a a a a a network of 27 Accredited Children’s Advocacy Centers Centers (CACs) and and more than 10 additional Developing Centers Centers and and and MDTs throughout Ohio ONCAC ONCAC is is is committed to to building
on on on on existing resources to to to to benefit multi-disciplinary multi-disciplinary efforts across the state by providing education support and and networking opportunities to to to enhance Ohio’s response to to to child child abuse abuse The CAC multi-disciplinary multi-disciplinary approach maximizes the the the strengths of of all disciplines involved in in in in in in in in child child child child sexual abuse abuse investigations and and minimizes the the the trauma to to to child child child victims ONCAC envisions a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a future where every child child child and and family in in in in in in in in Ohio has access to to to the the the the the full-array of of of high-quality CAC CAC services By providing care tailored to to to to the the the needs of of each community we are are lighting the the the path ahead toward healing and safety for Ohio’s children What are CACs and how do they help youth in Ohio?
To understand understand what what a a a a a CAC is you must understand understand what what children experience without one Without a a a a a a a CAC a a a a a a a child may end up having to to tell the worst experience of his or or her life over over and over over again to to doctors police lawyers therapists investigators judges and others They may not get the the the the help they need to to to heal once the investigation is over Working Together:
When law enforcment juvenile justice or or child child child protective services believe a a a child child child is is being abused the child child child is is brought to the CAC a a a a a a a a safe safe neutral child-focused/friendly developmentally appropriate environment by a a a a a a a a safe safe adult/caregiver At the the the CAC the the the child tells what happended to to them once to to a a a a a a a trained professional who provides a a a a a a a a neutral fact-finding interview interview Then based on the interview interview a a a a a a a a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) that includes specialized medical and mental health professionals law enforcement prosecution child protective services victim advocacy and other professionals make decisions together about how to to best help the the the child Through coordination of o of services services CACs are able
