real hockey job and I am so grateful I got the opportunity to work there,” said Patronick. “I learned so much and got to be very creative in my job. It helped me explore what exactly I wanted to pursue in my career.”
During her time at the Hockey Academy, Patronick accepted a position as the General Manager of the Boston Blades, a professional women’s ice hockey team in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. She spent two seasons with the Boston Blades and was charged with many of the day to day operations of the team, as well as budgeting, recruiting, sta management, fundraising, outreach, and more.
“My experience with the Stars and Wild was a huge piece of what got landed me the General Manager job with the Blades,” said Patronick. “I loved working with the juniors and knew that I wanted a larger role in managing a team, one that wasn’t related to coaching. It opened a lot of doors and showed me what roles I could have in a high-level hockey program.”
Now, Patronick has made the adjustment from working in professional women’s hockey to college hockey.
“The facilities at Colgate are top-notch. I was in absolute awe when I walked into Class of ’65 Arena, their brand new rink,” said Patronick. Each of the men’s and women’s locker rooms feature a dry-change area, numerous shower stalls, a spacious dressing space, and a player lounge, often used for pre-game meetings and post- game meals. The locker rooms and lounges are equipped with Smart TV’s for video review.
Working under Head Coach Greg Fargo, Patronick is proud of her accomplishments so far. She recently organized the team’s pre- season retreat, set in the Adirondack Mountains. She compiled a three
hour “Amazing Race” type of scavenger hunt for the team, a project with many moving parts. The hunt allowed the team to bond, and the sta learned more about the players’ personalities during challenges – and how that might
translate to on-ice situations. “Krista is a true professional and we are very pleased she is joining our program,” Fargo said. “Her experiences in hockey have prepared her well and I am looking
forward to working with her.”
