When it comes to the law, things are
not always black and white.
While some laws are clear-cut, many legal
situations involve interpretation, ambiguity,
and varying degrees of grey area, making
them extremely difficult to comprehend which
is why Dahlia and Khizer Pervez have focused
their work on assisting others navigate this
often-difficult landscape.
“I know it may sound cliché to say, ‘We got
into this because we want to help people’,
but ultimately that’s what it is because
law can be so dense and so complex, and
wording matters,” says Khizer, seated next to
Dahlia, his wife and business partner in one
of Cambridge’s newest legal firms Pervez &
Pervez Law.
“By not having someone to guide you a lot of
people can be misled or not know their rights
to something and then just forgo them and
face adverse impacts. So, for me, it’s really
about helping through that by understanding
that work.”
Dahlia agrees and says providing a personal
and accessible service has formed the
cornerstone of their practice since the couple
set up offices in the lower level of their West
Galt home a year ago after moving from
Ottawa.
“We really want to give them the
groundwork they need to figure out
what their legal issue is,” she says.
“Sometimes they don’t even know what
area of the law they need help with.”
While Pervez & Pervez is a general practice
firm offering practice areas in corporate &
commercial, employment, immigration and
wills and estates, the partners bring unique
and added perspectives thanks to their
varied legal backgrounds which they began
cultivating immediately upon graduation with
law degrees from Michigan State University.

“I wanted to originally be a criminal defense
attorney,” says Dahlia, joking while growing
