                                                Menara Kudus







                    Identity


                Menara Kudus is one of the destinations
                for  religious  tourism  in  Central  Java.
                Masjid  Menara  Kudus  also  known  as
                Masjid  Al-Aqsa  is  located  in  Kauman
                village Kudus city district, about 1.5 km to
                the west of the city center.



                     History

                Menara Kudus Mosque was built during the Sunan Kudus in in 1549 or

                956  Hijriah,  using  the  Baitul  Maqdis  stone  from  Palestine  as  the  first
                stone. The history of the construction was made not only for a place of
                worship, but also a place that was built through the process of adapting
                to Islamic teachings.

                The  building  and  decoration  clearly  indicate  a  connection  with  Javanese  Hindu.
                Menara Kudus has temple-shaped gate. It has a height of about 18 meters with a
                base measuring 10 x 10 meters. The surrounding buildings are decorated with 32
                illustrated plates. Inside the tower there is a ladder made of teak wood. Menara
                Kudus building consists of 3 parts: legs, body, and the top of the building. The legs
                and body of the tower are built and carved according to Javanese-Hindu tradition
                including the motifs. Another characteristic can be seen in the use of brick material
                that is installed without cement adhesive. The head of the tower, there is four saka
                guru rods that support two tajug roofs which refers to Javanese-Hindu architectur
