And my little Brother Andy. We met in 2002. I was
the Department Manager of Electronics at Walmart
in Owings Mills, MD. Our store manager and I
interviewed him for the job in my department.
The manager asked if you knew someone was
smoking weed during work hours, would you
report them? He wondered if that was part of his
job description. The manager thanked him for
taking the time to interview for the position and
said we would call him with our discussion.
I called him back and was very disappointed to
inform him that we had chosen another applicant.
Andy was the right fit for my department.
A month or two passed when I visited Staples
Office Store to purchase printing paper and ink.
I discovered Andy working in the electronics
department. It was an opportunity to tell the story
of upper management's decision not to hire him. I
was so sorry I could not have him partner with my
department. At that time, we had been brought
together to bond as friends, so we did.
We found that we had a common interest in
Graphic arts and illustrations. We shared our
portfolios and worked on projects together. Lots of
knowledge passed between the two of us.
