There are close to 20 temples situated on the Serangan

including one of Bali's six most sacred temples, Pura Dalem

Sakenan. The 11th-century temple is the main focus of the local

annual Piodalan festival, a celebration of the temple's

anniversary. The Piodalan is held once every 210 days (the

number of days in one Balinese year or Pawukon Calendar). The

ancient Sakenan temple is also the traditional pilgrimage

destination for the sacred Kuningan ceremony, the last leg of

the Bali-Hindu Galungan 10-day island-wide celebrations.
