                                       Computer Science Pathway

Intro to Digital Technology: This course is designed for students to understand, communicate, and adapt to a
digital world as it impacts their personal life, society, and the business world. Exposure to foundational
knowledge in hardware, software, programming, web design, IT support, and networks are all taught in a
computer lab with hands-on activities and project focused tasks. Students will not only understand the concepts
but apply their knowledge to situations and defend their actions/decisions/choices through the knowledge and
skills acquired in this course. Employability skills are integrated into activities, tasks, and projects throughout the
course standards to demonstrate the skills required by business and industry. This is the introductory course in
the Computer Science, Web Development, and Digital & Web Design pathways.

AP Computer Science Principles*: 4th year science! This course is designed to be equivalent to a first-semester
introductory college computing course. Students will develop computational thinking skills, analyze and study
data, and work with large data sets to analyze, visualize, and draw conclusions from trends. They will create a
computer program and demonstrate employ-ability skills working with digital artifacts, digital abstraction and the
operation of the Internet. Students will have an opportunity to take the AP Computer Science Principles exam to
seek college credit, college placement, or both. This is the second course in the Computer Science pathway, and
  the Game Design pathway.
*Prerequisite: Introduction to Digital Technology or the successful completion of Algebra I with a strong
foundation of mathematical reasoning is required. It is recommended that students have taken or be
recommended for Geometry or Accelerated Geometry.

AP Computer Science*: 4th-year science! This course is equivalent to a first-semester, college-level course in
computer science. The course emphasizes both object-oriented and imperative problem solving and design
using Java language. This is the third course in the Computer Science pathway.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra I and Geometry is required. Completion of Precalculus
or Accelerated PreCalculus is encouraged along with a strong foundation of mathematical reasoning.
