SHOWS AND
VALIDATION?
Livestock projects are a serious undertaking.
Much money and time is spent choosing
animals, working them at home, and showing at
livestock shows. You can view a calendar in the
back to review what shows are held during the
year.
All market animals that will be exhibited at
major livestock shows must have state
validation tags. Species committees are
formed in each county that include County
Extension Agents and Agriculture Science
Teachers from schools located in the county.
Validation is a very serious matter. If your
animal is not validated and the proper
paperwork is not filled out correctly, you may
not exhibit your animal(s). It is your
responsibility as the exhibitor, to read the
monthly 4-H newsletter to know times and
locations of validation. The calendar located in
the back also includes validation information.
