A Word from Kayla

Parents...If your child cannot fulfill the duties of an officer, like...oh you know...attending the
meetings, DO NOT let them to run for an office and take the opportunity away from someone
who does come to the meetings and will fulfill the duties.

I borrowed these words today because I feel like they fit the season... Brookeromneywrites

To all the kids who DIDN'T

To every kid who didn't get elected; didn't win the award; didn't get asked to prom. I'm sorry. And I'm not going to tell you it
isn't a big deal. Or that it's just high school. Or that it doesn't matter. Because it does. And it feels SO BIG right now and that's
okay. But I also want to let you know that who you are is so much BIGGER than all of this.

You are too powerful and have too much potential to let OTHERS decide your value or how you show up in this world. You don't
have to be elected to be a leader. Live your life with character, integrity, and love for others, and eventually people will realize
that you are someone worth following, for all the right reasons.

You don't have to make a team to play a sport. Keep playing because you love it and find others to come along for the fun.

You don't need to attend a top school to have a successful future. This world is full of infinite possibilities that come through all
avenues. Take your desire to learn, work, and connect and amaze yourself with your end result.

You don't need an award as proof of a job well done. It is not that final moment that dictates success but every sacrifice along
the way. Be proud of you efforts, how they shaped you and what you learned.

You don't need to be asked to prom to have a good time. Find a few friends or family members, get dressed up, and take
yourself to dinner or to do something else you love.

You don't need permission to enjoy yourself. Others miss out by not including someone as interesting as you. Right now you
might have a hard time believing all this, and that is okay.

But just so you know, after graduation, all of this fades into the background quickly and no longer defines anyone. Because life
          gets so much BIGGER.

So, take time to be sand and frustrated, but don't stay there. You have too much to offer this world because of who you have
become through your good times AND bad.

Dig in, show up, reinvent, pivot, learn. And get ready, because on the other side of your disappointments, there is a really BIG
          life waiting just for you.
