The Vet Science program is an independent program offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. We do not have an organized
program here but as mentioned it can be done independently and done at the young person’s own pace. After completing the 500
volunteer hours at a clinic the participants are eligible to take a test and if they meet the necessary requirements of that exam then
they would be a certified veterinary assistant. So it’s not just completing the course work and hours, they must pass the test as well.

This link contains basic information regarding the program as well as links to purchase resources. The vet science program
specialists have informed us that the only resource you really need to purchase is the student handbook however if you want to
purchase more you’re welcome to. https://aevm.tamu.edu/4-h-veterinary-science/curriculum/.

Any specific questions you have related to the program
should be directed to Tyler Vogel. His contact can be found here https://aevm.tamu.edu/contact-us/ . Just let him know that y'all are
doing it as a self -directed project. He is a wealth of knowledge.

The Veterinary Science program is also offering 3 summer camps to provide experiential learning opportunities for students
participating in the Veterinary Certification Program. This is the link to the camp information and Tyler again would be able to
     answer specific questions
     regarding the camps.
