We CAN Do Hard Things
and
Be a Supporter for Someone Else
Last February I had a very serious discussion with myself to get back on track with my fitness and health.
For those that have been in the program since my beginning here in Parker Co., you know, fitness was
very important to me. Over the past several years, it took a back seat and I really had to give myself a
swift kick in the butt to get back on track.
Fast forward to October, and I let a former 4-H mom talk me into running the Cowtown 1/2 Marathon in
Feb. 2022. I'm no stranger to running and ran quite a bit in my younger years but I've never run further
than 7 miles, so 13.1 is a bit scary to me, I'm not going to lie. Fortunately I have a group of supporters
that lift me up when I freak out, keep me in line and encourage me.
I have been making every excuse not to run the past couple of days and I actually had a 4-H mom text
me Tuesday to may sure I was on the treadmill doing my workout by 5:45PM. I then had a panic moment
yesterday where I was almost crying, not sure if I could do it. Tiff talked some sense into me and backed
me off the ledge, like she's had to do several times (if you haven't seen her collection of 1/2 marathon
and full marathon medals you need to come to the office and check it out because she is a rock star).
I have two points I'd like to try to make in this ramble, and that is... 1. We CAN do hard things, and 2. Be
that encourager and supporter to others. We have been given the great opportunity to live this
beautiful, crazy life. So take advantage of it. Step out of your comfort zone, and push yourself. Be
that encourager and cheerleader for someone else, because it can make a huge impact in someone's
life.
Thank you all for being part of the Parker County 4-H Program and I wish you all a Happy, Healthy and
Prosperous 2022!!
