Message from the Board Chair

        Dear friends,
Welcome to the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra’s The Sound and The Fury
concert. What better way to showcase music inspired by nature and weather than
to be joined on set, oops I mean on stage, by our good friend, Channel 5 meteorologist Mike Wankum.
Today’s program offers something for everyone and we’re confident in forecasting that you’ll be
delighted by what you hear, see and experience.
We are very excited that pianist extraordinaire, Grace Chen, the 12-year old winner of the South Shore
Conservatory’s Youth Concerto Competition, will also be playing with the orchestra. Grace herself is a
force of nature. Prepare to be wowed.
Grace’s performance is a powerful testament to all the Phil does to foster the development of young
musical talent in our region. A core component of our mission is to bring music educational programs
to people of all ages and backgrounds on the South Shore. While the pandemic has interrupted some
of what we have been able to do with public schools in the area, we are looking forward to being back
in full force, working with educators to develop the next great musicians and nurture in all students a
        life-long appreciation of music.
Thank you for your continued support of the Phil, which makes everything we do with young people
possible. Here’s to brighter days of celebrating together the beauty, wonder and power of music.
        Cheers,

        Paul F. Jean

        From the Executive Director

        Welcome!
Bringing great music to people of all ages has always been a hallmark of the
Phil and nothing exemplifies that goal more than this concert. The one-hour format and special
pricing makes this an ideal concert for anyone new to live orchestral music.
I love looking out into the audience and seeing friends – young and not-so-young, long-time
supporters and first-timers – all enjoying great music together.
We are disappointed that we were not able to hold our popular hands-on music demonstration
this year, but rest assured it will be back next year!
Special thanks to the Edgar and Pauline Main Family Foundation for supporting this concert
for more than 25 years, not only as a sponsor, but by making it a family tradition and attending
with extended family from near and far to help bring great music to a whole new generation.
We could not do it without you.
        Cheers,

        Kim Corben
