ABB IE5 SynRM motors deliver ultra-premium
energy efficiency – 50% better than IE2 motors
The IE5 ultra-premium SynRM motors from ABB offer up
to 50% lower energy losses and significantly lower
energy consumption than the commonly used
IE2 induction motors, says the company. ABB
first introduced SynRM technology in 2011
and it says that case studies in industrial
installations have demonstrated energy savings
of up to 25%, depending on the application. The IE5 level of efficiency is
made possible by the SynRM design which combines the performance
advantages of permanent magnet technology with the simplicity and
service-friendliness of an induction platform. To ensure an environmentally
friendly design, the motors do not feature rare earth materials.

Carpanelli introduces antibacterial
and stainless motors and gearboxes
Carpanelli are now able to offer the complete
package of motor and gearbox for applications
requiring the safety features of antibacterial or
stainless steel. Antibacterial motors offer 35% better
thermal heat dissipation than untreated aluminium and
10 times more the stainless steel. The anti-mould and germicide
properties make these motors more suitable than stainless steel for aseptic
environments. The new MSS stainless steel electric motors and gearboxes
are for use in all food and process applications where overall cleanliness
and wash down protection is required and having a smooth finish to
minimise build-up of contamination on the motor body. A hygienic line
catalogue can be downloaded from the Carpanelli website.

Omron expands its family of
Q2 compact inverters with Q2V
The new Q2V compact drive from
Omron offers stress-free motor
control with just one drive for any
kind of motor, from induction (IM) to
permanent magnet (PM) and
synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motors. An inverter is needed to control
the frequency of power supplied to an AC (alternating current) motor to
control the rotation speed and acceleration in pumps, fans and other
industrial machinery. The Q2V inverters are extremely easy to install, and
thanks to their rugged design ensure 10 years of maintenance-free
operation.
