One way to keep your piano moth-free is to play it regularly because moths don’t like being disturbed. You can treat and protect your piano with cedar anti-moth products or Moth Killer strips – place them inside the piano in a place where they will not interfere with the action or sound production.
If you have an upright piano, place the strips inside the bottom door in the pedal area. If you have a grand piano, place the strips on top of the plate, along the curved side. Acana Airing Cupboard Moth Killers are ideal because they come with a fixing kit which means you can fix them to the wooden panels at the bottom of the piano.
It’s important to check your piano regularly and to replace or refresh your moth deterrent products at least once every three months.
A piano is most vulnerable when it is stored, so it’s crucial that if you’re putting your piano into storage, you pack in some moth repellents.
If you find moths inside your piano, you need to prevent them from spreading to other areas of your home. It’s best to take precautions by using moth repellents throughout your house.
