Save Your Carpets and Rugs from Moths
Given the large cost of replacing the carpet in even one room in your home, it makes sense to do whatever you can to protect your existing flooring from moths.
A new carpet can cost anywhere from £5 to £40 per square metre (or more) and then between £300 to £600 (or more) per room to have it fitted. On top of that, you’ll also have to pay the carpet fitter to dispose of your old carpet.
That means if you allow carpet moths to take hold, you could be facing a huge bill because without moth-killing products to stop them, they will destroy carpets and rugs in every room in your home.
Art curator Kenny Schachter knows this all too well. “We had a wool carpet and they [moths] had systematically gone through and destroyed an entire room’s worth by the time we’d noticed it,” he said in an interview with The Independent.14
He suspected the moths had stowed away in his luggage while he was in Mexico. Besides eating the carpet, the moths attacked his prized cashmere jumpers and more.
“I picked up some boxes in a corner of the room and they were all over the bottom of the boxes. At that time, you could see them flying about. They were small and beige-coloured. One
