the team last season and to the also to the squad of players who unfortunately narrowly
missed out. We wish the new management team of Brian Leahy, Dave Walsh and Anto
Beirnes the very best of luck in the 1st Division this season.
Off the pitch the club is making great strides with our facilities in Oldchurch Park on a par
with any of the facilities of the top tier clubs in the Munster Senior League, I make a special
mention to all of those who have helped us in every way over the years to help us maintain
and improve our facilities to the standard that is now required for Munster Senior League
clubs. In particular I would like to thank our Club President John Barry and Sean Geasley ,
Paddy Maher, whose leadership and foresight and very hard work have helped the club to
fulfil our plans and ambitions in providing top class facilities for the soccer public of Cobh and
surrounding areas.
I would like to specially thank our main sponsor Ger Curley of Jack Doyles Bar and his staff
who have supported us in every possible way over the years in sponsoring our teams and
allowing us to hold events there, we expect our players and supporters alike will continue
to support Ger for the coming season. I would also like to thank all of our sponsors for their
continuing support of the club, Sorrentos, Kelly’s Bar, BMC Stores, Coral Leisure, Keating’s
Londis, Garvey’s Supervalu, Cobh Edition, Merck Millipore, and all those who have once again
taken out Player sponsorship for this season this is crucial to our whole set up within the lo-
cal community with local business getting behind sporting clubs to help us to create facilities
for our young people in to the future. I would also like to thank the many other people who
support our weekly Lottery draw in Cobh which is the main lifeblood of the club and the pro-
ceeds from which are being pumped straight back into our facilities in Ticknock to help make
improvements for everyone to see and enjoy.
In conclusion I wish the Eric, Darragh, Dave & Ryan and the squad the very best of luck to-
night in what we expect to be a very tough encounter against Sligo Rovers on Saturday night
but we know that the squad is well up and ready for this game and perhaps a shock could be
on the cards on the night. We hope you enjoy the game and thanks once again to Cobh Ram-
blers FC in facilitating us with holding this Cup match and we look forward to working closely
with all of the clubs in Cobh in helping to foster and promote sport for all in the town.
Yours sincerely
Joe Stack, Chairman, Cobh Wanderers AFC
