Great Island Sailing Club
A warm sunny October afternoon provided the backdrop for our kayaking trip from Roberts
Cove to Rocky Bay. A large swell on the eastern side of Roberts Head provided a new challenge
for our kayakers, but the headland was an advantage, providing near calm conditions on the
western side, allowing the group explore the many inlets and caves this fascinating coastline
provides.
The many rocky outcrops and narrow passages, provided the ideal playground to practice
paddling skills. Having taken a break on the beach at Rocky Bay, the group headed back to
Roberts Cove, having to navigate a rolling swell once rounding the headland. Once safely back
in the shelter of Roberts Cove, some took the opportunity to practice their Eskimo Roll and
Rescues.

like Breaking the Silence Cobh can benefit we will keep doing them
