GREAT ISLAND SAILING CLUB NEWS
     Junior Kayaking will take place each Sunday from 9th to 30th September inclusive. These
     sessions will introduce the basic kayaking skills using sit-on-top kayaks through a range of
     on-the-water activities and games.
     Please visit greatislandsailingclub.checklick.com to book and pay online. Cost is €30 for mem-
     bers and €40 for non-members.

     Each session is 1 hour long and will take place close to shore within the sheltered area of
     Whitepoint. Sessions take place from 2pm to 3pm, 3pm to 4pm and 4pm to 5pm. Each
     session is srictly limited to six participants. Please note that these sessions are all weather
     dependent.

     These sessions are for children aged 7 years and up, however participants must have suf-
     ficient swimming ability and confidence to be able to right their kayak after a capsize and be
     able to re-enter the kayak unaided.

     SEPTEMBER SAILING runs for 4 weeks from 9th to 30th September inclusive from 14:00
     - 17:00 each Sunday. Please visit https://greatislandsailingclub.checklick.com to book and
     pay online. Cost is €50 for the four weeks.
     These sessions are for improving sailors only, who want to improve their sailing skills and
     techniques (at a minimum you should be able to sail a dinghy around a triangular course us-
     ing the correct points of sail (beat, reach, run) and be able to recover from a capsize without
     assistance).
     These session are for ages 10 years and upwards. Sailors must be able to rig their own boat
     and get on the water with a minimum amount of assistance.

     Sailiors should arrive in advance of the session start time to change and rig dinghy to be
     ready to launch at 1400 hrs.

                        Cobh Flower and Horticulture Club
     Cobh Flower and Horticulture Club will hold its next meeting on Monday 3rd September
     7.30pm.  Our speaker for the evening will be Sheelagh Crean who will give a talk on “Autumn
     Time is Planting Time”.
     Visitors welcome.   Admission €5.
