Junior result: Cobh Wanderers 4-0 St. Mary’s
The juniors put four past St. Mary’s in the league today to keep their slim hopes of
promotion just about alive. Wanderers were dominant in the early stages and took
the lead on ten minutes when Donnachie headed in from a Kinsey corner. Wanderers
had a second disallowed for a foul after Gilmartin finished a flick by Hogan follow-
ing a Donnachie cross. A minute later Wilmot and Kinsella hit the crossbar in quick
succession and it looked like it was only a matter of time before the lead would be
extended.
The standard of the game dropped after that and it took until the 68th minute be-
fore Murphy extended the lead with another headed from a corner. An Andy Hogan
double in the last ten minutes put a gloss on the scoreline for Wanderers but anoth-
er welcome three points on the board and a clean sheet for the stand-in goalkeeper
Peter O’ Halloran making his debut for the juniors this season.
Team: Peter O’ Halloran, Ian Murphy, Cormac Downing(Farrell O’ Connor H/T),
Dave Walsh, Derry O’ Hanlon, Andy Hogan, Jamie Gilmartin(Luqman Kassim 69),
Keelan Lee, Owen Kinsella(Calvin Murphy 55), Kev Wilmot, Pierce Donnachie.
Scorers: Pierce Donnachie 10, Ian Murphy 68, Andy Hogan 78 & 90+1
