Food and Fibre Careers Day
In May 300 students from 22 schools travelled to Dookie for the annual Food and Fibre Careers Day.
Seven schools and more than 90 students from our area attended with CCLLEN funding transport.
Many aspects of agriculture were on show in 24 different workshops. Students were able to choose
three workshops. Aimee Snowden of Little Brick Pastoral was one of the guest speakers, along with
Myrrhee Primary School and Professor Tim Reeves.
Lunch time included a Young Farmer Challenge consisting of a team race through a series of farm
related activities and obstacles including hay bales, drench guns and swags. Moama Anglican
Grammar’s team won the Challenge and took home a drone for their school.
Avalon Airshow
Forty-one students from five local schools attended a special
careers session at the Airshow on 1 March.
CCLLEN coordinated and subsidised the bus transport for
St Joseph’s College, Moama Anglican Grammar, Rochester
Secondary College, Kyabram P-12 College and Rushworth
P-12 College to attend.
After the careers session and morning tea students could
explore the Airshow. They stayed on to watch some of the flying
displays which are a highlight of the Airshow, before leaving
late in the afternoon for the long journey home.
